"..." Retsu made a small smile and nodded. "...Yeah, I guess you're right..." He frowned again and got a flashback.
~~~"Hahaha!" a group of kids were kicking an 8 year old boy on the ground. "P-Please stop!" the boy begged. It was raining hard. "Haha, you want us to stop? Alright, fine..." the kids spat at him and walked away, hollering,"Stupid orphan!""You should've never been born!""Why's he even in school? He should be in the streets begging for money!"
"..." The boy layed on the ground. He was clutching a peice of paper, afraid that it'll be crumpled and wet. He suddenly heard barking and growling behind him. "!!" he turned around and saw 3 vicious stray dogs growling. They tackled him on the ground and started biting and scratching him. He heard familiar voices again behind the dogs. He caught a glimpse, and it was the same kids who picked on him. They were holding three leashes and laughing. "This is so fun!" He heard before he blacked out.
He woke again, and it was still raining hard. "..." He was laying in a big puddle of his own blood, cuts and bruises all over his body. "!! RETSU-KUN!" he heard someone call. A white haired silver-eyed girl his age came up to him, holding an umbrella. "R-Retsu-kun! Oh my gosh, what happened to you!?""...Yu-Yukai..." Retsu muttered. "P-Please don't say anything, Retsu-kun, don't worry, I'll bring you to my house and I'll call the ambulence okay?"
"B-But Yu--""Don't YOU 'but' me!" Yukai teared up, and she picked up Retsu with one of his arms around her neck. "Hang in there!" He dropped the paper from before and left it in the middle of the blood puddle.
It was a love note for Yukai from Retsu.~~~
"..." Retsu shook his head,She'll never like me back anyway... "Ummm, Kara...have you ever....fell in love before?"

Why'd she stop???"Well, I once did...and well, I was just wondering if...if you have because...the girl I once loved made me notice that she'll only think of me as a best friend...it made me a little sad for a while but well, I know she'll get someone better than me someday..." Kara looked at him with a smile as they entered the appartment building and headed up the stairs. "Yes you are. Don't worry Retsu-kun!" She gave him a little thumbs up. "Do you think you're better though? I don't want you to be sad!"[/color]

Yukai smiled,"Ohhh, you're so sweet..." Yukai smiled. She went inside, and she snuck inside Retsu's room. She put Kize on his bed and she smiled,"Now don't make a sound, okay?""Arf!""That's my boy!" Yukai patted his head and walked out of the room.
The phone suddenly rang. "I'll get it!" Yukai picked it up. "Hello?""Hi....is this Yukai?""...Yes...?""I'm Dan, head of the police department...you know Kevin right?""Yes he's my friend!" Yukai smiled. "Yeah...well I'm his boss...uhhh listen....ummm, just to kill you in on something...your parents....they were involved in an accident....and....well...""...Yes?" Yukai muttered. She still cared for her parents even thoguh they abandoned her.
"They died.""...""I'm sorry....we took a test, and yes, they confirmed that it was your parents...""H-How did--""You mother had a DNA sample of you, and I compared them to the police testin gyou had to do when you entered this school, remember?...I'm really sorry--" Yukai let go of the phone, and it dangled in mid-air. "..."
"....Yeah, I'm better than before...." he made a small smile. He saw Yukai standing in front of hte reciever. "Hey, Yukai, you like staring at the ocean or something?" There was a window that overlooked the ocean in front of her. She didn't answer. She put her hand down from over her ear like she was holding the phone. "...Yukai?" he waved in front of her. "Are you in La-La Land? Helloooooo," he poked her.

"Yu..kai-chan?" Kara said while walking over to he friend. She saw the phone dangling and picked it up. There was a man's voice on the other line asking if anyone was there. Kara picked it up. "Hello mister. What's wrong with Yukai-chan?"[/color]

"...? Who is this?" Dan spoke. "This isn't Yukai...well, if you're a friend of hers, can you tell her I'm really sorry?...Oh, wait, you don't know?...Ummm, well, you're gonna hear it anyway, so here goes...
"Her parents just died in a car accident...and well, yeah...I'm really sorry this happened..." Dan spoke in a quiet voice.

Kara just nodded and made an acknowledging sound. "I'll tell her. Thank you, bye." She hung up the phone and turned to Yukai, who was being comforted by Retsu.

Kara sadly looked at Yukai. It reminded her of her own reaction when her parents died...
*FLASHBACK*
The doorbell rang. "I got it," a six-year-old Kara called to her babysitter who had paused their video game, awaiting her return. Today had been the best day ever. She ran to the door and unlocked it. Once it was open, she saw her perfect parents standing on the doorstep.
"I'm glad you remembered to lock the door sweetie," he mother said her with a warm smile.
Kara ran to her mother and embraced her in an excited hug. Suddenly she heard a bang and her mother's arms went limp and a warm liquid had just showered over her. She immediately stepped back, a little frightened. As soon as she moved, Kara's horrified father put an arm out to catch her now dead mother.
Within seconds, another bang was heard and Kara was once again sprayed with the warm liquid. Tears streamed down her face as she saw her father fall to the ground with her mother in her arms.
She hadn't known it at the time, but he babysitter was watching the whole thing, as soon as her father fell, she pulled Kara back inside and slammed the door closed, locking it. The older girl picked up the phone straight away and dialed 911, talking to the people on the other line through sobs.
Kara just stood there, staring at the door, not knowing what to do. The door looked so far away ask she looked at it, not even crying yet. There was blood all over her, but she hadn't realized that yet either. "Mommy.......?"
Kara shook the thought from her mind before she could get upset by it. She put her hands on Retsu's shoulder so that she could pull herself up to whisper into his ear. "What's Yukai-chan's favorite food? I want to make it for her."[/color]

"...." Retsu watched as Yukai was crying and sobbing. It made him wonder...
Who are my parents? I have never even caught a glimpse of them...they died when I was 2...
He felt a light weight on his shoulders and saw Kara. "What's Yukai-chan's favorite food? I want to make it for her," he heard her whisper.
"Um, she usually likes root beer floats....but she also likes warm milk and French toast with an uncooked egg over it," he whispered back to her. "I'll help you in cooking it..."
"!!" Yukai heard police sirens coming up near the whole apartment. She got out of Kevin's hug and opened the door that led to a porch and looked down. She saw a big police officer wave down at her. Thee were two stretchers, and a bag on top. Inside of them were her parents. "!!" Yukai put her hands over her mouth.
"OKA-SAN! OTO-SAN!" she yelled, crying again, and she was about to jump from the 5th story all the way to the ground. Retsu grabebd her from behind,"Yukai, stop! You're gonna kill yourself!""OKA-SAN! OTO-SAN! (means Mother and Father) OKA-SAAAAN! LET ME GO, RETSU-KUN, I WANNA SEE THEM, I WANNA SEE THEM!" she yelled out loud. They zippered the bag and put it in the ambulence, nad started to drive away. Dan thought,I guess she doesn't want to see her parents....that will be her last time...
"OKA-SAN, OTO-SAN, OKA-SAAAAAAN!!!" her voice died down and she began sobbing again. She slapped retsu's arms away and sank on her knees bawling again.
